an OCC Men's Ministry Outdoor Event.
On Saturday, October 14,
the men of OCC's Men's Ministry enjoyed an outdoor event of clay
target shooting. Trap shooting is a popular sport and anyone can
do it. Unlike golf, bowling, tennis, basketball, etc., there are
no physical requirements, well, as long as you know how to properly
use a shotgun. Once you try it, you'll be hooked and wonder how
you went so long without it. Although there are clubs that will
furnish you with a loaner shotgun, many shooters will lend you
theirs just to give you a taste of what you've been missing. Shooting
isn't new or hard for most men, but hitting those targets isn't
as easy as one might think! That's what makes trap shooting challenging,
but fun. It doesn't take long to get your feet wet and like most
things, practice makes you better.
Over 20 of us met at Sam
Warner's property in Shepherdsville. On a crisp afternoon, we
gathered together for a terrific day of shooting, food and fellowship.
Some knew exactly what they were getting into while others had
little to no experience with trap. It took all kinds, young and
old, novice and skilled. What made it work was God's presence
in the outdoors and the men's willingness to teach and to be taught.
Supplies and shotguns were shared. Everyone who wanted to give
it a try was able to. In God's great outdoors, there were no barriers
– just a time to exchange experiences and get to know each other
better.
If you attended this event,
thanks for coming – we pray you were blessed! Keep an eye out
for more outdoor activities to come!
