Mother's
Day
by Amy True
Every little girl plays baby dolls
and at some point dreams about growing up and hearing someone
call her mommy. But as little girls, we do not think about the
fact that this might not be a possibility or that maybe God’s
plan for how we become mothers may be different.
For me, God’s plan was different than mine. I became a mother
through adoption. So today I celebrate a day that is beautiful
for me in more ways than one. It is the day that I celebrate the
fact that I AM A MOTHER, but it is also the day that I celebrate
the fact that two very special women in my life chose to be mothers.
They are the birth mothers of my children. They chose life and
in return I became the recipient of the most precious gift one
person could ever give to another. The gift of a child. I am in
awe of the tremendous amount of love these women must have had
to be able to make the choice to give their children a better
life and the fact that they entrusted me to give them a mother’s
love.
I look at these two beautiful children and I am so overwhelmed
with emotion and love flowing that words cannot even describe
it. I think back to a time when I was playing with my dolls and
dreaming about the day that it would all be real. No dreams can
even come close to comparing to the feelings I have and the pure
joy and love I feel when I hear them call me Mommy.
