This past Sunday,
Aaron Brockett was introduced to the congregation as the
new Minister of Evangelism and Outreach. This week we’d
like to help you get to know Aaron and his family a bit
more.
Aaron is a 1998 biblical studies graduate
of Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri. After college,
he served as the senior minister at Elkville Christian Church
(Elkville, Illinois) while attending Lincoln Christian |

Seminary. In June of
2001, Aaron and Lindsay moved to Davis, California, where he founded
Discovery Christian Church. Davis is a university town located
outside Sacramento. Since that time, Discovery Christian Church
has grown to over 200 – even while experiencing high turnover
as a result of a highly transient population. As founding minister,
Aaron has focused on evangelism, preaching, leadership development,
fund raising, small groups and a host of other activities. He
is a frequent speaker at high school camps and men’s retreats
around Northern California. Lindsay is active in women’s
ministry functions and sings in the worship ministry.
Aaron and Lindsay have two children, Conor (age 3) and Campbell
(age 18 mos.). His favorite movie is Braveheart. His favorite
authors are Philip Yancey, John Ortberg, Donald Miller and God.
His favorite thing about ministry is “watching someone’s
life change – and then seeing them go invest themselves
into others.” His favorite sound: “my kids laughing”.
2nd favorite sound: my wife saying, “I love you”.
Aaron enjoys reading, playing and watching basketball, snow skiing,
wrestling with his son and riding his motorcycle.
At OCC, Aaron will join the speaking team and head the Evangelism
and Outreach Department. We know you’ll enjoy getting to
know Aaron, Lindsay and their kids as much as the search team
and leadership team have so far. Their first Sunday at Okolona
will be March 26th. Until then. please keep the Brockett family
in your prayers as they transition from their ministry at Discovery
Christian and move to Louisville.
