Library Update
by Lonnie Meredith
As
more and more people enter into our church family, I become encouraged.
This means that there are so many ministry opportunities that
can become available. One of those ministry opportunities exists
in our library.
When we first moved into this building, our library consisted
of about 800 volumes, plus cassettes and videos. Now we have close
to 1700 volumes, over 150 videos for adults, over 100 videos for
children, over 300 CD’s, and over 100 cassettes. In addition,
you will see a volunteer each Sunday morning in the library to
assist you in checking out books.
The library is open to you any day of the week. If you decide
to check out a book during the week, simply remove the card from
the back of the book, sign it, and leave it in the wooden box
on the desk. Someone will date it later. Try to read the book
within a two-week period and return it so that others can read
it also.
If you desire to check out a video or cassette, just add your
name and phone number, plus the title of video or cassette on
the board near by. You may keep it for longer than two weeks if
necessary.
We do accept books by donations. Also, if you shop at the Family
Christian Bookstore on the Outer Loop, please be sure to ask for
library stamps. These are very helpful in purchasing new books
for free. There is a blue can in the library where you can drop
off these stamps.
There are also several periodicals in the library as well as reference
works which you can use in the library. We ask that you do not
take these home with you. All of our books and videos are on the
computer. Feel free to search for a title from the computer. There
is also a set of Old Testament and New Testament commentaries
that have been downloaded into the computer for your use.
I hope to see many of you using our library. Just as the Bereans
we read about in the book of Acts would study the Scriptures daily,
I urge you to use the library as a source for studying the Scriptures
daily.
