Son's
Birth a Test of Faith
by Tammy Sinex
The day finally arrived.
Mark and I were expecting our second child. We knew that we were
looking at a long tough road ahead of us because of the complications
that I had experienced with my first child. I had been diagnosed
with an incompetent cervix. I had to undergo a surgery at twelve
weeks to sew up my cervix, which enabled me to carry my baby properly
to term. The surgery worked wonderfully and there were no complications.
I delivered my first child, Corbin, to term. Now, I was looking
down that road again and knew what to expect. I underwent the
surgery as anticipated with no complications. However, I started
experiencing preterm labor. The high-risk doctor advised that
I would more than likely deliver my baby around 24 weeks. She
also advised that the baby would more than likely not survive
and if it did, we were looking at a long stay in the hospital.
According to the doctor, the outlook was not so bright. I refused
to accept that information. My response was, “we are going
to prove you wrong.” At that point, I knew that we needed
prayer.
Bill Geiger coordinated with the Elders and we all met and prayed
to God for healing. The weeks that followed were tough. I was
ordered to partial bedrest, attended doctor appointments weekly,
took medication daily and received a shot once a week all to keep
the preterm labor at bay.
Within a month, I went for a follow-up ultrasound. To the doctors
surprise and not ours, my cervix had corrected itself to almost
normal. Long story short, I ended up being induced at full term.
Landon Joseph Sinex was born full term, healthy and beautiful.
Mark and I thank God for answering our prayers and we give Him
glory, honor and praise for our blessing, Landon.
