Thank
you, OCC, on Behalf of the NACC
by Bill
Geiger
If you
attended the North American Christian Convention main sessions,
you shared in some meaningful and even historic moments as we
pursued the theme “Together in Christ.” More than
8,000 attended the convention Wednesday night (700+ in the children’s
convention). It was great to see so many come “together
in Christ.”
But just as exciting for me, was walking around the convention
center and seeing so many familiar faces working together in Christ
to ensure the success of this year’s NACC. OCC showed up
with a servant’s heart providing volunteers for areas such
as the welcome center and greeters. But the big turn out came
in the children’s convention where OCC provided 65% of the
workers for the on site program. Our own Jen Frye headed up this
effort, and with the help of Karen Lane, anchored all 8 NACC time
slots for children birth through 5th grade. That was a huge undertaking,
but one which our congregation genuinely supported. Pam LaRocco
led out in the daytime elementary program, Susan Ehret helped
with some critical recruiting, and many of our folks put in double,
triple and even quadruple shifts.
After a great turn out of our people on Wednesday night, the NACC
staff person over the children’s convention earnestly commented,
“you must be really proud of your people.” And I am.
So on behalf of the NACC, thanks to all of you who generously
gave of your time to help with local arrangements and to serve
people you hadn’t met before.
But I’m not just proud of what you did 2 weeks ago. I anticipate
what God will do in response. Remember Jesus’ comment about
those willing to wash feet:
“Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if
you do them.”
John 13:17
