Ones:
High School CIY
By Jon
Maynard
On
June 18 our High School students will board buses and travel to
Savannah, GA for this summer's CIY conference. For those of you
who are unfamiliar with CIY, it stands for Christ In Youth and
exists to create excited, vibrant disciples of the Gospel. CIY
puts together conferences for students all around the U.S. that
include some of the most amazing teaching and worship opportunities.
Students also have a chance to attend classes that deal with subjects
that they confront on a daily basis. CIY is an intense, exciting,
and inspiring week that no high school student should miss.
This
year's conference theme is “ONES: We Were Never Meant
To Be Alone” . This year, students will be challenged
to make their faith something that fits in with their culture.
Evangelism is always a difficult concept for people to understand,
but for Christ it was simple. The Church is to be a community
where no one feels alone, and is to be a place where everyone
can find the love and protection that they need.
Inspired
by this conference, OCC will not be going to this conference alone.
We have teamed up with three other area churches and will be traveling,
eating, and worshiping together. This will be a chance for our
students to gain community with other Christians, their city and
their nation. Registration forms can be found in the Lofts, in
United, or at the Information Center.
Dates:
June 18-22
Cost:
$290.00
Please
put your registration in an envelope and place it in the office
mail box addressed to Jon Maynard.
