OCC
Student Ministry to Help Operation Nehemiah
By Jon
Maynard
No
one will ever forget the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, especially
the residents of New Orleans , LA. It's amazing that even after
more than a year,
people are still struggling to put their lives back together.
Never before has the United States seen such a need to help its
residents, and never before has the Church had such an obvious
opportunity to fulfill its calling to help those in need. Because
of this amazing opportunity, Okolona Christian Church is sending
a group of high school students (July 22-27) to help Carrollton
Avenue Church of Christ with their Operation Nehemiah project.
This project was brought about to help the church reestablish
its body and reach out to a community in crisis. There are thousands
of people seeking restoration, and we have been given a unique
opportunity to reach out and help heal a broken community.
Though
there is a great need, it is obvious that not all people can take
the time to actually go. We would like to offer our body a chance
to take an active part in our trip. This can come in the form
of prayer. Each of our students needs a person to pray for them
daily. Along with this is the financial burden. If you feel led
to helping one of the students financially, please contact Jon
Maynard (jon.maynard@okolonacc.org,
or 962-6500) and make him aware of your interest. We are very
excited about sharing this opportunity with the entire body of
Christ.
