Recognizing
Iceburg Spirituality
By John
Perciful
It's deceiving…we mistakenly
believe we are doing fine. We start to clean up our lives and
even begin to have helpful spiritual experiences in worship, prayer,
bible studies and fellowship.
All
the while our relational life and interior world
are
not in order.
 |
For
many of us, this “apparent” progress provides a spiritual
reason for not advancing in our Christian life. We are deceived.
That's what Iceberg
Spirituality looks like. The top 10% looks
fine – we attend church, “clean up our lives”, begin to
pray and share Christ with others…but the roots of who we
are continue unaffected and unmoved.
Have you ever
been hit with that reality? Have anger and resentment been
surfacing too often in your relationships? I think it eventually
hits most of us – but usually we see it only when the pain
of our current emotional state becomes unbearable. |
Could God be speaking
to you through your emotions? Could the wall you're hitting now
actually be a gift – a “wake-up” call from God?
Here's
a truth that can change your life…
Emotional
health and spiritual maturity are inseparable.

If you're tired of replaying
the same destructive emotional responses over and over again,
then maybe it's time you do something about it.
