Reviewing
the Year
by Harold Mahan
WOW!!!! Can you believe
the year is almost over. If you are anything like me you are wondering
how a year can pass by without realizing it.
I think I made some New Years resolutions last December, but can’t
remember what they were. I put them on the fridge, but replaced
them with pictures that my kids drew at church and school. Does
that mean my year was wasted or unsuccessful? Should I be sad,
or thankful for what the year has yielded? Without a doubt, I
am thankful. After all, I have a lovely fridge full of pictures
made by my favorite little hands.
My family is healthy, so healthy we are adding another member
to the family (June 08). Then, of course there is our church family.
I have had a wonderful year of serving the Lord with a loving,
devoted church family. In the past year, I have seen many friendships
grow. I have been humbled by the way God’s people continue
to serve Him and each other. We all have busy lives, and it sometimes
seems impossible to add one more commitment to that schedule....but,
when that commitment is serving God, it is amazing how much easier
the rest of our schedule becomes. The rewards from serving and
loving each other are talked about frequently in a Sunday message,
or in this bulletin, but when you experience it for yourself,
you know words alone can not do justice to what you feel in your
heart.
Let me sum all of this mushy stuff up. Thank you for letting me
serve with you. Thank you for emails, phone calls, and lunch dates.
Thank you for putting up with late schedules, last minute changes,
and the imperfections that we all have (some imperfections are
exclusive to certain people, so you may not have the ones I do).
I love you all and am thankful for who you are.
