The
"Sandwich Generation"
By Elaine
Duncan, Business Administrator
If
you are between the ages of thirty and sixty-five, you are part
of what has come to be called “the Sandwich Generation”. You are
(or will be) “sandwiched” between caring for aging parents, while
still trying to maintain a normal home life and career. Time is
not your friend, because caregivers never have enough hours in
a day. You must become a master juggler, trying to meet the needs
of your parents, children, spouse and boss, while still trying
to steal a few moments of sanity for yourself. If all of that
wasn't stressful enough, there is the realization that you don't
have a clue where to find help, you don't know what resources
are available, and you're not even sure what questions to ask.
Perhaps worst of all, you don't realize that you're not the first
person to endure this stress, guilt and fatigue.
No
matter the age, each of us may one day be faced with the responsibility
of caring for a spouse, parent, child or other relative. That
responsibility will bring new problems and issues that we haven't
considered before, and with those issues will come stress.
Never
fear! The Seasons of Life Conference is here! On October 13, this
conference will answer all of your questions and more. Our workshops
will help you prepare for your “season of life” as a caregiver.
Don't wait until you're overwhelmed with care giving. Get the
answers now! Check out the conference at the table in the lobby.
