Women's
Ministry "Souper Bowl of Fashion"
By Laura
Kemper
OK,
football fans! The real “souper bowl” was right here at OCC the
night after “that other one”. It was a great evening!
After
enjoying about 15 homemade soups and chilies and, of course, desserts,
we all headed to the youth auditorium for the fashion portion
of our evening. Terry Masters, a new member at OCC who just plugged
right in by so graciously offering her services, lead the way.
Terry is a wardrobe consultant and closet organizer who shared
her color skills and wardrobe secrets with us. She also challenged
us to go through our closets and bring our “Pile 3” clothes back
to church that next weekend. Terry and Tammy Spencer then headed
up a group of ladies that sorted and organized bag upon bag of
clothes,
purses, jewelry and accessories.
On
Saturday we had our “Pile 3 Exchange”. Shopping with no money!
There was something for everyone because “one person's Pile 3
is another person's Pile 1”!
But
the story doesn't end there. The OCC Women's Ministry is coordinating
with the Center For Women and Families and the Red Cross, who
helps those in need like the people that lost everything in the
apartment building fire in Fairdale a couple of weeks ago. The
clothing still left will be donated. What an awesome event! We
got to eat hot soup on a VERY cold night, fellowship, learn about
clothing, clean out our closets, shop and help our neighbors.
Now that's MAXIMUM IMPACT!!!
Terry Masters and
Tammy Spencer
organize the "piles"
of donated clothing.
