Sterling
Service Tea Ministry
By Susie
Hartz
We
have begun our second year and what a blessing the Sterling Service
Tea ministry has been to all involved! The purpose of this ministry
is to reach out to women whose lives have been touched in some
way by cancer. Our goal is to give these women an afternoon respite
in an elegant setting with delicious food and fellowship.
We just had our fourth
Tea on Saturday, March 3, in the Fellowship Room. We welcomed
twenty-nine ladies and pampered them with delicious teas, delicate
treats on beautiful china and a special speaker. Our guest speaker,
Heather MacKenzie, introduced us to the joy and creativity of
Scrapbooking. What a wonderful
way to preserve your precious memories! Heather also provided
materials for us to have some hands-on fun and creativity. We
want to thank her for giving of her time and making the afternoon
so special.
This ministry not only
blesses the women whose lives have been touched by cancer, but
is a tremendous blessing to all of us who volunteer in service.
We have so many wonderful women at OCC who are willing to give
of their time and talents to reach out to others. Without the
many dedicated volunteers, these events would not be possible.
Thanks so much to all who have helped make this such a success!
Our next Sterling Service
Tea will be held on Saturday, June 2. Please submit the names
of any women you feel would appreciate an invitation at the Women's
Ministry desk in the lobby. We have a special sign-up sheet just
for that purpose.
If you would like more
information, please contact Celia Emberts at 957-5722 or Susie
