Try
the Tithe Sunday
by Bill Geiger
What would it look like
if the church were operating anywhere near the capacity God has
given her? What if we unloaded the sin and worry in our lives
that restricts the flow of the Spirit. What if we released the
resources of time, talent and money that he has blessed us with?
The resulting mental picture is something to get excited about.
On Sunday November 18 we ask you to accept the challenge of Malachi
3:10:
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may
be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty,
“and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven
and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough
for it.”
A tithe is 10%, that is $10 for every $100, $100 for every $1000.
What would it look like, if for that Sunday, all of us brought
a tithe of our income? Let’s find out next week.
1) Be confident about God’s direction: read: Luke 6:38;
Psalm 37:26;
1Cor 16:1-2; 2Cor 9:6-8; Mal 3:7-12;
2) Use your regular weekly offering envelope for your tithe and
other regular giving. If you don’t receive envelopes write
Try the Tithe across one of the envelopes available in the backs
of the seats.
3) Use the special Thanksgiving envelope for any special gift
you would like to give in thanks for God’s continued blessing
in your life. If you don’t receive envelopes write Thanksgiving
offering across one of the envelopes available in the backs of
the seats.
4) Use your FTF envelopes for Forward Through Faith gifts.
5) Pray that you would be aware of God’s confirmation/ blessing
for your obedience. (He doesn’t always do it the way we
expect)
6) Pray for continued guidance from Him.
