Women's
Ministry Bonfire Fellowship
By Laura
Kemper
On
Monday, Oct 1, the women of OCC joined together for our 2 nd Annual
Bonfire Fellowship. It was a relaxing evening, as we sat back
in our lawn chairs and soaked in a beautiful sunset, scarfed down
s'mores and delighted in each other's company. Tommy Dillman lead
us in “singing ‘round the campfire” and blessed us with a new
song he just wrote.
In
addition to the fun, Becky Edmondson, Executive Director, and
Cheryl Grant, Director of Operations, from a Woman's Choice Resource
Center and Necole's Place shared what they are all about and what
our baby bottle donations funded. They shared success stories
of women who were walking into the abortion clinic directly across
the street from them but were encouraged and chose to cross that
street over to their center and choose life for their babies instead.
Praise God! They also shared stories of women that did not choose
life but were still offered grace and support as they tried to
live with that decision.
Arlene
White, our Women's Ministry Team Leader, lead us in an awesome
devotion that reminded us to turn our burdens over to a God who
is bigger than we are. We were all handed pen and paper to write
those burdens down. It was very humbling to watch each lady as
she walked up to the fire and tossed her burden in. It was a powerful
reminder that we are all sisters who serve the same loving and
all powerful Father.
With
all the pressures and stresses of everyday life, there was just
something special about a circle of Christian sisters singing
along with just a single guitar and that great big sky over us
that just touched our souls. The beauty was in the simplicity.
We need to remember that.
