Maximum
Impact
by Bill
Geiger, Senior Minister
We
began 2007 with a sense of optimism and a series titled “Maximum
Impact.” Like every year 2007 had its ups and downs, but we ended
in the same spirit as we began. December averaged 1584 in attendance
each Sunday with a total of 2800 people joining together to celebrate
Christ's birth in 3 other special programs (All Bow Down, Preschool
Christmas Program and Candle Light Christmas Eve service.)
Along
the way we reached several milestones. 208 individuals made public
commitments to Christ and His church in 2007 (89 by baptism and
119 by transfer). This brought us to 402 people who have been
united with Christ through baptism since we moved to our new campus
and an additional 409 who have joined us by transfer to share
in the Lords work at OCC.
Those
numbers of course represent people, and those people represent
a larger group of folks who continue to move forward in their
spiritual journey. Almost every time I walk through the building
I see our people cleaning, painting, practicing and serving in
some way. Small groups and individuals are reaching out to people
in need of the love of Christ. People have been sharing with me
new steps of growth in their spiritual progress.
I think OCC has
yet to reach its maximum impact for the kingdom, but 2007 was definitely
a year of increasing impact. Let's carry that momentum over into
2008 as we launch out together on a Summit Expedition.
