Cleaning Ministry
by Dave McFarland
Remember when . . .? Back in the good
ol’ days, we were a smaller church both in numbers of members
and square footage. Why, you could come to church and see lots
of the same folks every Sunday. You could take a few steps and
be in the gym or at the door
of your Sunday School room. We even had a custodian back in those
days who could keep the building clean, take the trash out to
the dumpster, and get the light bulbs changed. Guess what? We
ain’t that church no more! That’s a good thing of
course, because Christ’s message is getting out to our community.
But with growth, comes lots of other challenges.
About 7 years ago, our custodian retired. OCC then went to a church
volunteer plan to have our cleaning needs addressed. And that
worked great for the last 7 years or so that we were at the old
campus. We have had loyal, hard-working volunteers who took personal
responsibility for cleaning certain areas of the church for many
years. When you came to church, you sat in a clean room that a
fellow church member had cared for earlier in the week.
Well, those were the days of 30,000 square feet or so. We now
gather in a facility that is over 100,000 square feet! With that
in mind, please consider signing up to help our Cleaning Ministry
Team. We are in need of at least 20 folks immediately. We are
called to be good stewards of what God has provided and we have
much to care for here at our new campus. Our current Cleaning
Ministry Team has done a great job so far, but we are starting
to fall behind a bit. We need help! We want our facilities to
be pleasing to those visitors who are potential new members. Remember,
we are working on our future good ol’ days right now. Be
a part of the team that keeps it all looking good!
