Gifts
of Love Delivery
Daniel & Kristy Byrd just returned
from a trip to to Pearlington, Mississippi to deliver the “Gifts
of Love” donations and report that everything went really
well. Daniel said “it was very very special to be a part
of bringing some joy to some kids whose worlds have been rocked
so drastically. The way their faces lit up and the look of relief
on their parents’ faces spoke volumes. Many said they would
have had nothing for Christmas otherwise. Almost all infrastucture
was eliminated in the little town we went to. The kids don’t
go to school because the ones in their area were wiped out. Their
parents don’t have work. Most sleep in either FEMA donated
trailers, vehicles, tents or shacks.”
Daniel noted that it’s “really cool” to know
that Christian workers have physically done and monetarily contributed
so much to the catastrophe down there. “All the believers
were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions
was his own, but they shared everything they had.”
A special word of thanks goes to Pam and all those who helped
out in the Children’s Ministry to make this project happen
and to everyone who gave gifts and shoe boxes so that some kids
down in Mississippi could feel some love.
By the way, they say there is still plenty of work to be done
- like tree clearing, rubble management, gutting houses, rehabing
houses, etc. Okolona Christian Church is planning a trip in April.
