Graduation Reflections
by Chris Dunbar
When I first started high school I was on the bottom of the food
chain. After three grueling years of working up to the top I look
ahead and can only see the bottom yet again.
I graduated on May 25, one of the happiest days of my life. As
I look ahead to college I am, of course, ready and excited to
go. But at the same time I am nervous and a little intimidated.
I’m nervous only for the fact that I have to become an adult
and make mature decisions for myself.
People at OCC have not only been supportive to me but the rest
of the graduating seniors as well. People have come up to many
of us telling us that they are proud of us and more importantly
praying for us. Those words of encouragement have eased the anxiety
- a little.
The past four years with this youth group have been awesome. From
the CIY trips to the D-group meetings they have all been so much
fun and so spiritually moving. You can sense Christ is moving
every time we get together and glorify him. The leaders and my
friends were always there to love on me or talk to me when I really
needed it and I don’t know where I would be if it weren’t
for this youth group.
I guess to sum it up, high school has been fun, but I am now ready
to move on and see where God leads me. As long as I stay focused
on him he can do anything through me and that is the most exciting
part about starting my life.
