Middle School CIY
by Brittany & Bethany
Tolle
On February 18th and 19th, the middle
school students took a trip to Covington, Kentucky for CIY (Christ
in youth). There, the middle school students had a chance to make
new relationships with kids our age, come closer to God, and have
a really great time! One thing we enjoyed was the Christian comedian,
Daren Streblow. We all had many laughs that afternoon!
The lessons, taught by Jeffery Dean, made an impact on many people’s
lives. He taught us:
· God has time for you- always!
· Don’t fill up on the “fuel” of the
world
· God will love you no matter what
· Empty yourself before filling up with God
· The “1,1,1 Plan”
One of the things that Jeffery taught that caught our ears was
the “1, 1, 1 Plan”. This “plan” is to
help us read our bible, and put what we read to practice. The
three one’s stand for:
· one verse
· once a day
· for one week
We also liked the teary eye moments we spent in prayer and comforting
our friends.
There were other crazy events, like the girls with pink lips on
their cheeks because of d-group leader, Schelee Reece, and when
Taylor Heltsley was asked what church she was from, and she answered:
“Uhhh… Bullit County”. And who knows what the
boys were doing all night??
The worship was awesome! We all jumped, danced, and yelled until
we lost our voices. Our friend couldn’t talk the next day.
The band that played for our worship was Foundation Red. They
did a really good job.
Many middle school students look forward to going to CIY every
year. This CIY trip has impacted many lives; including ours! This
was Bethany’s first experience, because she was sick the
year before. We’re both looking forward to next year!!
