Solid
Rock
by Elizabeth Wooldridge
Solid Rock has been a tradition at Cincinnati Christian University
for almost twenty years now. Each year about two hundred hopeful
applicants send in audition tapes and about forty are chosen.
This year was no different. On July 11, 2005 forty-two students
were brought together for the first time to meet each other and
begin vigorously working on the upcoming program.
Students began to arrive around 2:00 pm and at 5:00 pm practice
began. For the first time, we were introduced to the music we
were to perform the following Friday. The
task seemed impossible, but after hours of intense practice the
program came together. And along the way relationships began to
form.
By the end of the second week of Solid Rock I had not only learned
the importance of hard work, but had gained friends who were grounded
solidly in Christ. Solid Rock was one of the best experiences
in my life and taught me more than I could imagine about my own
relationship with Christ.
Anyone who is going to be a sophomore, junior, or senior in high
school should take the time to try out for Solid Rock. It will
change your life!
