"W.E.E." Makeover
by Jennifer Frye
What an exciting time to be at Okolona Christian Church! I came
back from maternity leave to work with a staff that was preparing
for an awesome year for ministry! I have been energized from their
energy and enthused from their enthusiasm. So, I got ready to
really kick off an exciting year in ministry, starting with some
name changes. Consider it a makeover of sorts.
The Preschool ministry has never really had any exciting names
to speak of. We had W.E.E. Celebrate, Sunday School and Youth
groups on Wednesday nights. Not very exciting names when we think
about what really happens in these ministries. So, I hit the drawing
board to come up with some great names that describe what we do.
I spoke with my team leaders and we all really liked the idea
of W.E.E. being the common bond of all of the Preschool ministry
programs. If you have ever wondered what W.E.E. stands for, here
you go: Worship and Education in a preschool friendly Environment.
W.E.E. Celebrate:
A Celebration of Praise is our worship program that takes
place on Sunday mornings at 9 am.
Our traditional Sunday School hour is at 10:45 am on Sunday mornings.
It has a new name as well! W.E.E. Educate: Dedicated to
a Deeper Understanding.
Wednesday night programming runs from September to April and has
always been called Preschool Youth Groups. Pretty boring, huh?
Well, not anymore. Wednesday programming is now – W.E.E.
Associate: Joining
together for Fun and Fellowship. W.E.E. Associate is
the program that also plans all of the special events we have
to offer. Sometimes the Preschool ministry does service projects.
From now on, those will be called W.E.E. Donate: Serving
Christ by Serving Others.
Hopefully when you see the names now, you will know what we are
talking about! Keep your eyes open for all of the exciting things
we have going on this fall. We will have lots of opportunities
for you and your Preschooler! And even if the names have had a
makeover, we still offer the same great worship and fellowship!
