On Saturday, April 16, 12 women from Okolona Christian Church
came together with approximately 1100 women from different church
denominations in Metro-Louisville and southern-Indiana, the reason:
Women Uniting - “A New Day”.
This event was a first for the Metro-Louisville and southern-Indiana
area. The vision of the Women Uniting ministry is:
• To bring the sisters in Christ in Metro-Louisville together
for spiritual fellowships and relationships.
• To build unity within the body of Christ.
• To provide an opportunity for women to study God’s
Word to gether, pray together, and speak for Christ as a group.
• To provide leadership through their church’s Women’s
Ministry and/or through Women Uniting.
St. Stephen’s Baptist Church hosted the event, which was
free for all women. The morning began with fellowship and women
were encouraged to sit with sisters from other churches for a
continental breakfast. Adjourning to the sanctuary, we gathered
for worship. Songs were sung and slides were shown in both English
and Spanish. An interpretive dance was performed, using colorful
flags. A drama was also presented. It was a nice way to stretch
the boundaries of what we are “used to” and to fellowship
and worship with sisters from other denominations.
