Women Uniting Conference
by Shirleen Geiger
Women Uniting held a
Leadership Training Conference on Saturday, October 22, here at
OCC. Women Uniting is an effort by women in Louisville’s
churches to come together to share Christ’s love and to
serve all women in our communities. The women who were present
represented a good number (about 30) of churches.
The morning began with a praise and worship service led by Jonathan
Colbert, Jenny Krukar, and Cindy Goldstein. The attendees were
genuinely excited about the worship service and the start of the
day together.
Lesa Dae, Pastor to Women at St. Stephen’s Church, was the
first speaker. She presented two topics:
1. “The Ingredients for a Healthy Women’s Ministry”
2. “Designing Your Ministry: Setting Goals, Defining Discipleship,
Evaluating Your Events and Building Your Leadership
Lynn Reece, Women Uniting Advisor and Director of Women’s
Ministry, Southeast Christian Church, was next to share about
“Developing Your Leadership”. Several breakout sessions
were offered, then lunch was provided by the Okolona women.
A second praise/worship time was shared together, followed by
the afternoon breakout sessions:
1. “Organizing Your Bible Studies -Part II”
2. “Outreach: A Vital Part of Your Ministry”
3. “Diversity: What Difference Does It Make?”
Women Uniting continues to make our churches and women aware of
opportunities to be involved in various community projects. To
