One of the services Okolona provides is the opportunity for couples
to get married in a beautiful sanctuary with a Christ-honoring
ceremony. Marriage is among God's greatest gifts to us, and at
OCC we try to help brides and grooms to have the best possible
experience joining their lives together.
All couples who desire to be married
at OCC must pick up a Wedding
Guideline Booklet from the church office. This booklet provides
detailed information couples will need for their ceremony. An
application
is in the booklet which must be filled out and sent to the wedding
coordinator.
After receiving the
application the wedding coordinator will conduct a brief phone
interview with the couple. If the ceremony is approved to that
point, the couple will then meet with the officiating minister
for final approval. No weddings are officially scheduled until
the minister gives final approval.
Because weddings at
OCC are Christ-centered, there are multiple criteria surrounding
weddings we perform. Some, although not all, are listed below.
- Couples who are married at OCC must be professing Christians.
- Couples must regularly attend worship
at OCC in order to be married.
- No couples living together prior to marriage will be married
at OCC.
- All couples must attend pre-marital counseling courses.
- An OCC minister must be the officiating minister of the ceremony,
although outside guest ministers may be allowed as assistants
to the wedding.
The current fee schedule for weddings at OCC can be discussed
with the officiating minister.
