At OCC we are all about making disciples who make disciples. It is our MISSION based on Matthew 28:19…
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.
So what is a disciple? A disciple is someone who is FOLLOWING Jesus, being TRANSFORMED by Jesus, and living the MISSION of Jesus. This definition is based on Jesus’ invitation in Matthew 4:19…
Come,  follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.

Here at Okolona Christian Church, our elders have clarified a vision for us. We want to be a church where every believer is inspired by grace, compelled by truth, sharing the gospel of hope.
We believe that this vision is going to be accomplished in four key pillars: Uncommon Forgiveness, Uncompromised Focus on the Bible and Prayer, Unflinching Risks for People Separated from Christ and  Undeniable Acts of Love and Compassion.
In the videos below we are going to talk specifically about each of those pillars. We encourage you to take a few moments and watch each of those segments to gain a clearer understanding of OCC and our vision.

Ephesians 4:32 asks us to be kind and compassionate, forgiving each other as God forgives us. It is not always natural for us to forgive and seek a reconciled relationship when we have been hurt. But God shows us the importance of forgiveness when He sent His Son to die for our sins. Jesus came so he could reconcile our relationship with God and to demonstrate that kind of compassion for us. It is so important that as a church we focus on forgiveness and create an environment that exhibits uncommon forgiveness to anyone in need of it.

There are several passages in the Bible that call us to focus on the Truth of God’s Word. The Bible is the story of reality and the basis of our faith and so we need to accurately handle the Word of Truth. (2 Timothy 2:15).
God has always wanted a personal relationship with His people and that is why in Colossians 4:2, we read “Devote yourselves to prayer,  being alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving.” We believe that prayer invites God into the Church, which is why we want to become a place where we have an Uncompromising Focus on the Bible and Prayer.

We all have a loved one whom is currently lost. We care about them, pray for them and hope one day someone will be able to guide them to the Truth. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 9 that he becomes all things to all people to that maybe he can save one. And that’s what we are all about. We want to take a chance on your loved one, on our neighbors, and those surrounding us because they are someone’s loved one too. That is why we want to be a place, a body, a people that takes Unflinching Risks for those Separated from Christ.

Matthew 5:16 says “Let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father in heaven.” We want to have a reputation for and set a standard of Love and Compassion. Not for any earthly praise, but so they may see Christ in it and get to know the love of the God who created them.
