At OCC we are all about making disciples who make disciples. It is our MISSION based on Matthew 28:19…
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.
So what is a disciple? A disciple is someone who is FOLLOWING Jesus, being TRANSFORMED by Jesus, and living the MISSION of Jesus. This definition is based on Jesus’ invitation in Matthew 4:19…
Come, follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.
Our Strategies for making disciples are:
SHARE the love and truth of Jesus in our community, nation, and world.
CONNECT people to Jesus and each other in relational environments
EQUIP people to MINISTER
DISCIPLE others people to
We believe that…
- Jesus and God are as one, displayed in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who created all things and is worthy of our obedience. Jesus is the Son of God who took on human form through a miraculous conception and virgin birth. He lived a sinless life and, as an act of grace, voluntarily died on the cross paying for the worlds sin. HE ROSE bodily from the dead and WILL RETURN to judge mankind based on their response to this grace.
- Everything God created was perfect, but when sin entered the world it distorted this perfect creation. Sin in our lives separates us from God and the relationship He intended to have with us. Relationship can only be restored through the grace offered by Jesus on the cross. All people need to accept this grace and restore relationship to be saved.
- Upon accepting his grace, God blesses us with eternal purpose. Thus giving life great meaning and significance. Through the fellowship of His people (the church) He not only coordinates the opportunities to live out this purpose but also trains us to reach our full potential.
- God has revealed His direction to us through the Bible. The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority on what is to be believed, taught and practiced by the church. While God’s truth can be found in many places, no other writings have been so inspired by God as the Bible.
